Western Stevedoring has been doing business on the North Shore and part of the community since 1977. During this time, Western has embraced a culture that embodies a true social purpose and desire to give back to the communities where we do business.

We believe in building relationships with local residents, businesses, and community groups. Working successfully with all levels of local governments and leadership is also fundamental in supporting the economies in the communities where we work.

Our community interactions are varied. Staff members liaise between the company and the community, offering updates on major projects, educating on products handled and services provided to our customers, as well as the day-to-day activities of Western.

We also embrace a generous charitable giving program and encourage employees to do the same. This includes endorsements, sponsorships and longer-term commitments to support those in need in our community.

Supporting Local Economies

Our goal is to support the local economies of the communities where we work.

Along with providing competitive wages and benefits to our employees, our recruitment goal is to hire local residents where possible and procure products and services from local businesses.

Western also supports the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Economic Partnership North Vancouver (EPNV) – a partnership between business, governments, and community formed to support the long-term economic growth and prosperity for North Vancouver.

Western Stevedoring in North Vancouver

Western Stevedoring has been part of the North Vancouver community since the early 1970s. We are proud to be associated with the North Shore’s vital, long-standing marine industry.

To promote education and communication about the waterfront within North Shore communities, we serve on numerous committees with representatives from waterfront industry, community and municipal, First Nations groups, and the Port of Vancouver.

 

Awards & Recognition

Western has received the following public acknowledgments for our commitment to supporting our communities:

  • Winner of North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Employer of the Year Award, and Winner, Hall of Fame Award. These awards are judged by a panel of community representatives and presented to North Vancouver companies who demonstrate excellence in their category criteria.
  • Winner of the United Way’s Greatest Impact Award. This award is presented to a company that demonstrates success by working together as a team, achieves an increase in employee participation, as well as a significant overall increase in the dollars raised for the campaign.
