"On the Waterfront” Lynnterm Tours

Ever wonder about the big ships you see in our harbour? Curious about what kind of cargo they’re carrying, and where they’re headed next?

Our terminal tour, “On the Waterfront … Proud to be on the North Shore”, is for anyone who wants to learn more about our operations, and how many of the products you use every day reach our shores – or the products that leave our shores for world markets.

Offered for more than three years, this initiative has proven very popular with local residents, attracting more than 1,000 participants to date.

Marg Worthy - Tour Participant

“Please pass on my thanks to the wonderful team that greeted and talked to us on Saturday morning. They were so informative and friendly and introduced us to a part of our North Shore neighbourhood that we had never seen. I have a new appreciation for the activity on the waterfront and how important it is to us. You are good corporate citizens and I wish you well”.

Classroom Programs

We participate in the North Shore Waterfront Industrial Association’s ‘In School Program’ focused on educating students on the waterfront industry in their community. Company representatives visit various schools and make presentations to students on topics of interest and encourage questions. This is followed by a harbour cruise where the students get an up close look at the terminals and the working waterfront.

Community, Stakeholder and Government Relations

We maintain strong partnerships with the business community and other stakeholders. These include railway operators, government agencies, federal departments such as Transport Canada, as well as provincial and municipal governments.

  • Sponsor, North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards – Community Contribution Award
  • Western’s employees serve in leadership positions on various community boards and committees.
